Once an engine for job growth, the home health sector is already experiencing job loss in anticipation of the 14 percent cut to the Medicare home health benefit. As patient demand for home health grows, an adequate employee base of skilled professionals is critical.

In its final regulation, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services projected that this cut will drive “approximately 40 percent” of all home health agencies to net losses by 2017, including many small businesses nationwide.
